BOMB BLAST IN KADUNA STATE KILLS WORKERS

OVER 25 KILLED BY A FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBER IN KADUNA

A teenage suicide bomber yesterday detonated an explosive device that killed over 25 people, a 2 year old inclusive, at Sabon-Gari Local Government, Kaduna. The bomber was said to have made her way into the premises of the Local Government and detonated the explosives laced on her body amidst State Government workers who were assembled for a biometric verification that was required for their salaries to be paid.

A survivor who claimed that the occurrence of the blast was at about 9am, also hinted that the bomber rushed into the verification center screaming ‘move, move’ before the bomb exploded, still attached to her body. Reports by survivors indicate that female casualties were high as majority of the State’s Workers who had assembled at the verification center were female primary school teachers. The Chief Medical Doctor, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Dr Lawal Khalid, attested to this report when he stated that 26 people had died, with 32 injured and 2 in a critical condition.
