A self-professed soldier, identified only as Emeka, was on Saturday reportedly arrested for extorting money from prostitutes in a brothel in Zone 2 area of Dutsen Alhaji, Abuja.
The 27-year-old man, a resident of Zone 3 in the area, was arrested at about 2.00 a.m. in the brothel fully kitted in army camouflage, Daily Trust is reporting.
His arrest came after he went to the brothel with his accomplice where they broke into the rooms of the prostitutes and forcefully extorted some undisclosed amount of money from them.
Reports claim that the commercial sex workers who refused to give them money were beaten up by the suspects, while some that gave less than N1,000 were tied with rope.
A police source said, “They only spared those that gave them amounts above N1,000 while those that had nothing on them were beaten up,” adding that luck ran out on them when a police crime detection and prevention patrol team stormed the area and the suspect was immediately arrested, while his accomplice escaped.
The Dutsen Alhaji Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Aisha Yusuf, who confirmed the arrest, said an army uniform and some amount of money were recovered from the suspect.
“Investigation has commenced and efforts are ongoing to apprehend his fleeing accomplice,” the DPO stated

Child abuse: Headmistress Who Fingered a 4Yr Old Pupil Absconds

The 27-year-old school head mistress, Violet Enu, who was arrested and interrogated by the Police in Lagos for fingering the vagina of a female pupil of Light Bearers Private School, located at Iyana-Isashi area of the state has absconded.

Ms Enu, who was granted bail by the police in Lagos after interrogations for allegedly defiling a four-year-old female pupil has taken to her heels.

Vanguard learned that the suspect, who reportedly defiled one of her pupils last Thursday, fled after the case was transferred from Badagry Magistrate’s Court to Apapa Family Court on Tuesday.

It was gathered that when the victim’s parents reported at the police station on Wednesday, Enu did not turn up and all attempts to trace the suspect, who lives at Ogbeni Achike Street, Isashi, Iba Council Development Area, by the police proved abortive.

Her surety is reportedly also at large. Meanwhile, the victim’s elder brother, who attends the same school, was sent home and prevented from attending the school’s extra-moral classes on Tuesday because of the incident.

However, according to the victim’s father, Chief Martins, “in a bid to create an avenue for the suspect to escape, the police referred the case to Badagry Magistrate’s Court, when they knew that cases bordering on defilement are usually heard at family court. “Otherwise how will a division not know that Badagry Magistrate’s Court does not treat defilement cases? “We came back from Badagry Magistrate’s Court at about 5p.m. on Tuesday, yet the police connived with the suspect to escape. “Sincerely, I do not understand the police’s interest in the case and why they have been persuading me to settle out of court without actually investigating to find out the motive behind the abuse. “What if it was for ritual? They are sending different lawyers to plead with me. Why are they attempting to deny my four-year-old girl justice? “The Police at Isashi Division have not done any investigation on the case. The only thing they followed is the Mirabel report, which proved that my daughter was actually defiled. “They granted the suspect bail and now she is at large. Her surety is also at large. I am calling on the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, and Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Owoseni Fatai, to please intervene in the case.:" he pleaded.
