Ending violence against children - Odinkalu







 A four year-old-girl raped by her uncle; a 10-year-old boy beaten to death by his father; yet another heart-wrenching story of abuse. No day passes without similar stories in the media. Many of us will sigh and turn the page, searching for the financials, the latest corruption scandal, or the sports news. We seem to have become desensitised to these horrors our children suffer.

Police arrest 21 homosexual students in Delta

Police detectives in Asaba, Delta State, have arrested 21 students who have been allegedly involved in same sex activities.

19th November is world's toilet day. A day earmarked by the United Nations to raise awareness on the state of sanitation around the world especially in third world and developing nations. According to statistics released by the UN, Some 2.4 billion people around the world don't have access to decent sanitation and over a billion are forced to defecate in the open, thereby getting exposed to disease and other dangers.

Lagos records 14,166 rape, domestic violence

The Lagos State Government has revealed that it handled about 14,166 rape and domestic violence in the state in the last eight years.

 A 30-year-old factory worker, Peter Ekom, has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ikeja for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.

Police arraign 57 for rape, sodomy in Kano

The Kano Police Command has arraigned 57 men between the ages of 30 and 60 for rape and sodomy they allegedly committed with 58 minors.
The accused were arraigned before a Magistrate Court 18 presided by Justice Idris Muhammad.
Others were arraigned before Magistrate Court 6 presided by Chief Magistrate Fatima Adamu.
The prosecuting counsel, S.O. Ekwe, said although the police were still investigating the matter, they had enough evidence against them.

Carpenter in court over alleged rape of university student

  A 25-year-old carpenter, James Sodiq, on Friday appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting at Isabo for allegedly raping an unnamed 23-year-old 400 level National Open University student.
