How the Nigeria Police treat victims of domestic violence

The Dorothy Njemanze Foundation, DNF, reported the case of a woman who has constantly been abused by her and has lost 2 pregnancies in the process of living with an abusive husband. Read the report below:

Last night, the Garki police station turned marched us out for daring to bring a case to them because they said it is family misunderstanding and definitely the victim's fault. Same police station has been discouraging her from taking any concrete action since 2008. This is her picture in 2008. She has lost two pregnancies to violence in between. Currently, she has been thrown out of her house and denied access to her children. She still current injuries.

This is part of what transpired in Garki police station.
Nigerian police must learn to treat domestic violence cases as criminal acts and stop discouraging victims from speaking up. The essence of this video is for you to know what police should not do! If you experience it, report it.
Everyone should know this is wrong and as long as VAPP Act is justice able in FCT, Nigeria, the police must also help ensure strict compliance. Like the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation page for more updates on this case as it breaks.
The police should never frustrate victims trying to access justice!
Feel free and share to enlighten others.
